Jakarta – The government has decided to extend the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) until August 9, 2021. This decision applies to regions implementing PPKM level 4.
“The government has decided to continue implementing PPKM level 4 from August 3 to 9 in certain districts/cities,” said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as broadcast live on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Monday (2/8/2021).
Jokowi said the level 4 PPKM which was implemented from July 26-August 2 had brought improvements on a national scale compared to before. These improvements include the decrease in daily confirmed cases, the active case rate, the recovery rate, and the percentage of beds for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Jokowi asked the public to remain vigilant against the Corona virus by implementing health protocols in their daily lives. The government will also intensify 3T activities or tracing, testing and treatment.
“Even though there have been improvements, the development of the COVID-19 case is still very dynamic and fluctuating. Once again, we must continue to be vigilant in making various efforts to control the COVID-19 case,” he said.
Jokowi said the government was trying to reduce the burden on society due to various restrictions on mobility and socio-economic activities. The government, he continued, is still pushing for acceleration in the distribution of social assistance (bansos) to the community, the Family Hope Program (PKH), cash social assistance (BST), and village BLT,” he said.
“Assistance for small micro businesses, street vendors and stalls, wage subsidy assistance has started to work, and the productive presidential assistance program for micro businesses was launched on July 3,” he added.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic must be faced together. Jokowi also appreciated the parties who participated in providing support in handling COVID-19.
He appreciated the volunteers and benefactors who helped the government enforce health protocols, facilitate self-isolation, and other social efforts.
